Environmental artist Maarten van der Ham shared some screenshots from his latest Unreal Engine 4 project, based on the open world from Ubisoft, The Division. Maarten van der Ham is very close to what Ubisoft artists have accomplished.

I play The Division alone, without friends. Not because they are not, but because the night. I look at my watch uneasily, promise to pack up and go to bed. I promise, I promise. An hour later, the window becomes a little lighter, but I was still there, in the same position, as if I had grown to a frontal place. Looking for occasions. I seem to have a good reason to gabble – a review! After all, before scoring, you need to shoot from each weapon, look into all the garbage cans. Otherwise, how? The game is big. This is me small.

I had breakfast in front of the screen. I don’t like it when the plot in the games is served through audio diaries (especially after Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain), but I can’t deny their convenience: while listening, you can safely eat. I looked on the map on which street the next mission was, but did not begin to draw a route in the navigator. The arrows above your head are useful when you need to save time, but without them the open world becomes more interesting. The interface here is already tiring and in general makes it difficult to take beautiful screenshots – there’s no need for extra piles. Like spilled ink on top of a landscape painter’s strokes.
